Lincoln Mayorga @ Marriott Denver Tech Center, Evergreen D Ballroom
Oct 6 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Lincoln Mayorga’s musical reputation as a world-renowned concert pianist and musical arranger/accompanist is rooted in a Los Angeles junior high talent show where in 1950 he and a friend/fellow orchestra student, Doug Sax, competed.

The pair renewed their friendship in college and rediscovered their mutual love of music and recordings. Doug and his older brother Bert (Sherwood Sax) had built a component high fidelity set and in 1956 they introduced Lincoln to his first listening experience with a fine sound system. From this and subsequent encounters, Lincoln proposed that the trio start a mastering studio offering independent producers ultra-high quality cutting from master tapes — the Mastering Lab was born.

At the time, Lincoln was arranging music for The Four Preps, and recording for Capitol records. When Lincoln, Doug and Bert Sax began producing direct-to-disc audiophile recordings, featuring Lincoln performing, as well as other ensembles, they designated these as the Sheffield Laboratory Series, and soon debuted the Sheffield Lab record label, with the morning glory logo.

After Lincoln’s initial success with the Four Preps, he established himself as a world-renowned classical concert artist performing in more than 250 cities across America, throughout Europe and Russia as guest soloist with the Moscow Philharmonic, as well as at prestigious venues from Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl, and Lincoln Center to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

He was staff pianist at Disney Studios for 20 years and contributed to the soundtrack of such film classics as “Chinatown,” “The Rose,” “Pete’s Dragon,” “Funny Lady” and more. Lincoln has contributed to some of America’s most memorable musical milestones as a hit songwriter, producer, concert and recording artist, and studio stalwart with stars such as Frank Sinatra, Frank Zappa, Ringo Starr, Itzhak Perlman, Quincy Jones, Henry Mancini and a host of others.
